55 Student Athletes Inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society

DURHAM, N.H. – Fifty-five student-athletes from the University of New Hampshire were inducted into the National College Athlete Honor Society, Chi Alpha Sigma, Friday at the Watkins Center for Student-Athlete Excellence at the UNH field house.

DURHAM, N.H. – The Friends of Jaclyn Foundation, in conjunction with University of New Hampshire Friends of Jaclyn, has announced the 3rd Annual UNH Field Hockey FOJ Awareness Game. The UNH field hockey team will play the UNH men's ice hockey team in a fund raising field hockey game May 3 (4 p.m.) at Memorial Field.

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire field hockey program has announced its schedule for the 2017 season, which will be the 27th at the helm for head coach Robin Balducci. The Wildcats will play eight of their 18 regular-season games at Memorial Field and that includes four games against America East East Division rivals as well as one against West Division foe Stanford University and another against the University of Louisville.

Bensaia Invited to Compete at Young Women's National Championship

DURHAM, N.H –Gianna Bensaia (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) of the University of New Hampshire field hockey team has been selected to compete at the Young Women's National Championship at Spooky Nook Sports (Lancaster, Pa.) from June 12-16. This is the third consecutive year Bensaia has been invited to the Young Women's National Championship event.

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire Department of Athletics is encouraging alumni, fans and all Wildcat supporters to take part in the 2017 (603) Challenge, the annual giving campaign in which individual online donations will be matched by the University up to $150 per donor for a 150-hour period. The campaign will run from June 3 (12:03 p.m.) to June 9 (6:03 p.m.) until matching funds are depleted.

van den Brekel Inks Letter of Intent for 2017 Season

DURHAM, N.H. – Robin Balducci, 27th-year head coach of the University of New Hampshire field hockey team, has announced that Bloem van den Brekel (Eindhoven, Netherlands) has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend UNH and join the field hockey program for the 2017 season.

BOSTON – The University of New Hampshire field hockey team recorded a 13-11 shot advantage and 4-0 edge in penalty corners, but 16th-ranked Boston University prevailed 1-0 in Sunday afternoon's title game of the Terrier Classic at New Balance Field. Kelsey Rudert (North Grafton, Mass.) stopped 4 of 5 shots on goal and held the Terriers scoreless the final 47:57 of the game to keep the Wildcats within one goal.

van den Brekel Named America East Rookie of the Week

BOSTON – Bloem van den Brekel (Eindhoven, Netherlands), a freshman forward on the University of New Hampshire field hockey team, was honored as America East Rookie of the Week in the conference's first weekly release of the 2017 season on Tuesday. In the Aug. 25 season opener against Northeastern University at Boston University's New Balance Field, van den Brekel set up the game-winning goal in overtime when her entry pass was redirected into the cage by teammate Rachel Bossi (Chelmsford, Mass.) 4:04 into the extra session.

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Rachel Bossi (Chelmsford, Mass.) scored a goal at 3:36 of overtime to lift the University of New Hampshire field hockey team to Friday night's 3-2 victory against 17th-ranked University of Iowa at Grant Field. The Wildcats have won two consecutive games to improve to 3-1. Iowa is now 2-4. UNH starting goalkeeper Kelsey Rudert (North Grafton, Mass.) made five of her seven saves in the second half. She did not face a shot in OT.

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Taylor Scafidi (Waltham, Mass.) scored a late first-half goal to lift the University of New Hampshire field hockey team within 2-1, but 17th-ranked University of Iowa scored five unanswered second-half goals to record a 7-1 victory Sunday afternoon at Grant Field. UNH left Iowa with a weekend split against the nationally-ranked Hawkeyes. The Wildcats prevailed 3-2 in overtime Friday.
